How to play Viisi

Viisi is a mindful daily puzzle. You receive five letters and must craft five different words using all of them. Every player worldwide solves the same board each day, so your streak is part of a shared ritual.

The Basics

Simple rules keep Viisi approachable while still offering satisfying depth.

  1. Use every letter once per word.
  2. Words must be in the official Viisi dictionary—no abbreviations or names.
  3. Each row holds one word. Lock it in to move to the next row—five locked rows wins the day. Leaving mid-row clears the words you've typed, so commit before you wander!
  4. Some puzzles hide bonus words. Find one and its tiles turn gold for extra points.
  5. A new puzzle unlocks every day at 06:00 UTC, the same board for every player worldwide.
  6. Level up your vocabulary! After you win, tap the words to reveal their definitions.

Helpful Tools

Use these options if you feel stuck—your stats will note when hints are involved. Want more puzzles? The archive has every past day.

Hints

Lock in three words and the hint button lights up. Tap it to prefill two letters of a solution. Two hints per puzzle, 10 points each, and never a bonus word.

Reveal

Uncovers every answer. There is no undo—the day counts as played but not solved, so your streak ends at the next puzzle rollover.

Reset

Replay any puzzle from a clean board. Your original score, time, and stats stay frozen—a replay is just for fun.

Archive

Scroll back through past games and play the ones you missed. Perfect for rainy afternoons—but archive catch-ups don't extend your streak.

Expert Mode

Turn it on in Settings when the daily board stops fighting back. It becomes the default for new games.

⚡️ No hints Hints are switched off entirely. It is you, five letters, and the dictionary.
❌ Three strikes Three invalid submissions end the game. Think before you lock in a word.
🔒 Locked in A puzzle keeps the mode it started in, so switching the setting never changes a game in progress.

Scoring

Every win is scored. Your score drives your performance stats and the celebration screen breakdown. See the full scoring breakdown.

20 points per word Credited the moment you lock in a correct word—you don't have to finish to start earning.
+20 for finishing All 5 words locked in adds a completion bonus. Expert Mode adds +30 more on top.
+25 per bonus word Each Special Word you submit adds 25 points. Hints will never hand you one.
-10 per hint Each hinted row costs 10 points. Skip both for a clean sheet.

Reveal the solution or fail out of Expert Mode and you keep the points for every word you'd already completed—only the completion bonus is lost.

Badges & Stats

Badges are your Viisi bragging rights. Stack wins, keep your streak alive, and chase "perfect runs" to light them up on your Home screen. Progress syncs across your devices with the same Apple ID.

Solve 5 daily puzzles in 5 consecutive days (archive doesn't count).

25 Wins

Reach twenty-five lifetime Viisi victories.

Win a puzzle without using a single hint.

One Shot

Solve a puzzle on your very first attempt—without leaving the game board. No resets or reveals.

Your stats

Score Your lifetime points, including partial points from reveals or Expert fail-outs.
Wins Total puzzles solved across daily and archive play.
Win Rate Share of the puzzles you finished that ended in a solve.
Streak Consecutive daily wins. Archive catch-ups don't extend it.
Performance Classic and Expert breakdowns, fastest and average solve times, and hints used.
Leaderboards Game Center rankings for fastest hint-free win, longest daily streak, total wins, and total hint-free wins.
